Operators and independent contractors must develop and implement an approved written training plan. The plan must contain effective programs that train new miners and newly hired experienced miners, new task training, annual refresher training and site-specific hazard awareness training. Our customized Part 46 training plans contain the five criteria required for approval.

The McHaney & Associates initial Part 46 training materials apply equally well to the needs of operators and independent contractors. All materials come with an Owners Manual that provides the information necessary to implement and comply with the training regulations. The system of self-instruction materials includes three primary components, Discussion Notes (text), Graphics, and Worksheets. The components are cross-referenced and are used together to form a complete and simple system of instruction. The Discussion Notes deliver the information that is reinforced or clarified by Graphics. The Worksheets drive home key points and focus the miners' attention on the subject matter. Quizzes verify learning. Certificates of completion are provided and designed to simplify your recordkeeping requirements.

Operators must provide site-specific hazard awareness training before any person specified under Part 46.11 is exposed to mine hazards. Using a combination of written material including an introductory message from the site manager or supervisor and digital photographs selected from a vast catalog of surface mine photos, a unique customized site-specific hazard awareness manual is created for the operator. A registration sheet documents compliance to the requirement.
